Where In This World Are YOU?

Ok, think about this for a second...think about how many people's minds stay in the same realm, all the time. Just really let that thought sit on your mind...hopefully you're not one of those people...one of those people who think about the same kinda shit every single day. Girls/dudes...functions...weed/alcohol...gettin money. Don't know if you realize it, but there are alot of people out there that don't let their minds roam anywhere at all..that's sad. Perhaps the main focus of this blog is to assist in getting you to think about things you may not have thought about before. I hope you guys really soak in some of the things i write about man...i put alotta thought into em. The mind is such a fascinating organ...thoughts are so much more powerful than you may realize. Thoughts take you places...and the best thing about thought is that it's unrestricted. You sit here in the physical, yes, but when zoning out to a thought, you're being is in a whole different realm. It's so beautiful. The mental state is so far greater than the physical. Your actual body is nothing but your physical state, your avatar so to speak (hope you get out to see that movie). For example, a dream is a great example of you traveling to another land...all while you physically lay in bed. When dreaming, you are so deep in thought and you begin to tap into the subconscious mind, and you literally FEEL those things you dream about. A dream is nothing but a stream of thought sequenced into what seems/feels real. THOUGHTS.

This is why i'm such an advocate of one tapping into his/her mind. I try to get you all to use parts of your mind that you may have never thought to use...or to stimulate parts of your mind that you may have forgot about...which is the reason i post all the old cartoons of the past. When you see those images of the cartoons that you once loved, you become a kid once more, even if only for a few moments. The mind is so beautiful...you can use it for more than you know. BELEE DAT! lol

CLASSIC: AHHHHHH! REAL MONSTERS!

Terrence's Tip of the Day

Do you sometimes find it hard to get outta bed and start your day off in a good mood? Here's somethin i've been doin and i'm surprised as to how well it's worked. Before you get out of the bed in the morning, think of the absolute funniest thing you can think of. Whether it's a part of a movie that's hilarious or simply some shit somebody said that made you laugh real hard. Take that moment to laugh to yourself, and AS YOU'RE LAUGHING, get outta the bed and get your day started. Trust me...this ALWAYS works for me.

Where Are You Really Goin?

I was on Twitter the other day and saw somebody's tweet that said that one should never be 'content' with life because it would cause us to never strive for more. I thought to myself 'hmm...i...i don't think so.' In fact, i believe its the exact opposite.

You see, always STRIVING to reach a higher plateau will always cause your life to look like the road in the picture above. With a mindset like that, you'll never be satisfied with where you are and in the end, where will it lead you? I think that's one of the human species' flaws. We are governed by greed. Always thinking there's something better out there in the world than what's in front of us. We do it with damn near everything. We fear settling down with a person because we subconsciously long for a person out there that we feel may offer more. I mean, just look at those corporate BILLIONAIRES. What exactly is their drive? THE HUNGER FOR MORE. No matter how much money they earn, its never enough. It's similar to drug addiction...the first high that they get is an extraordinary one, so every time they get high after that they're trying to get that 'initial high' that they got on their first run. However, after trying so hard to reach that initial high feeling, they've now become full blown addicts and have messed themselves up.

The key to life's joy is not striving to reach that next level...it's appreciating the beauty of the level that you are currently on. Appreciation and joy will attract nothing but the same in return. Like attracts like. Therefore, you will be on a more natural course of progression in life, rather than a forceful one through striving so hard. There's a book that i recently read called 'The 28 Laws of Attraction' that thoroughly explains this concept....it's a wonderful one. This is not to say that you shouldn't work hard in life. Absolutely not, that would be crazy. All im saying is that along with that hard work, no matter your condition, love and appreciate it. It will be then, that you will begin to see and enjoy life's true beauty.

Yall hear my knockin? WELL LET ME THE FUCK IN! LOL.

THIS Is What Killed Hip-Hop

Everybody wants to complain and point the finger at who led to the demise of this genre that we all know and love. But its not a WHO that killed it, its more like a WHAT. Hear me out...

Prior to the turn of the the century, Hip-Hop was booming, and almost every artist that was hot easily reached platinum record sales. It truly was a lucrative business and at that time, creativity and innovation were not actually necessary for an artist to be successful. That was UNTIL...the internet came about..

You see, before the internet, you had no choice but to purchase an album in order have it. There was no way around it. There was no downloading or streaming, you simply had to go out and spend your $13.99 on that LP. With the internet, music became extremely accessible, thus, making it less of a commodity. Its the basic business principle of supply and demand. Before the net, the demand for the music was high because it wasn't easily obtained. But when websites such as Napster, Morpheus, and Limewire came to prominence, the supply of the music went UP, and its demand went down. That same business principle applies to anything. For example, when a game system such as the Playstation 3 came out, the demand was so high because everyone knew that they would be sold out in a matter of minutes, due to limited supply. If there was an over-abundance of the system at launch, sales would be significantly lower.

Along with the rise of the internet, came the rise of the CD burner. That was another big blow to the the industry. And while other genres of music suffered from this innovation in technology, nobody suffered as much as Hip-Hop because the demographic of its consumers. That type of "demographic" (and i think you all know what i mean) were excited that they were getting something for nothing.

Along with the technology that aided in making the music more accessible, also came the technology that made it easy for fans and lovers of the culture to make music themselves. This is where the culture became flooded with alot of corniness. People will often blame acts like Soulja Boy or other artists from the South with catchy hooks and dances for the downfall of Hip-Hop but thats not where the damage came from. There were several acts way before Soulja Boy that created the same types of music, 2 Live Crew, 69 Boyz, MC Hammer just to name a few. When Hip-Hop was booming, there were only a few acts to pay attention to. Crews like No Limit, Cash Money, Ruff Ryders, and Rocafella, THAT WAS IT. For the most part at least. The new wave of technology brought about differences between those crews, because there was money issues. People who were being paid BEFORE, were now broke because the demand had fallen. With the death of these crews, came the death of alotta people's interest in what the music had to offer.

With the internet now being the number one source to get music, it allowed room for alot of gimmicks because things became more visual. It became more about your appearance than your music. So then, even the people with great music couldn't even survive. You had to be a style icon as well as deliver musically, a feat that not every artist could overcome. Not even artist like 50 Cent who just a couple years ago sold 11 million records. Fast forwarding to now, if you cant recreate the genre in a way thats so creative and well-received, you can forget about selling records. With all these people attempting to recreate the genre, its shifting further and further away from what everybody fell in love with....real Hip-Hop.

So there you have it...it was TECHNOLOGY that killed Hip-Hop, and it did it smoothly. A smooth criminal. It left everybody behind to bicker and bitch about WHO did it, when it was actually the machines. The machines...

HA!

Above The Rim

So i usually buy an album every week and post it, but this week is a bit different. I finally got my hands on one of my favorite movies, Above The Rim. This movie has to have the dopest soundtrack EVER. I think that's an element that's missing from music. Movies no longer focus on soundtracks the way they did in the 90's. Not only did dope music add flavor to the movie, but it also exposed good new music to the viewer of the film. People always complain about record sales being down, but in order to enjoy the same kinda monetary success that the 1990's music had, they gotta return to the old methods of marketing and promotion. Idk...just my opinion.

The Ring Finger..

Here's an interesting fact you may not have known...have you ever thought of the significance of the wedding ring going on the fourth finger of your left hand? It's because that finger contains a vein that carries blood straight to your heart. Heart = Love. It's the vein of love, or vena amoris. BOO-YOW! You learn something new everyday.

Runaway Love

In western civilization, the male, from day one, is taught to be 'tough'. To stand his own ground...To poise himself with his chest out...To defend himself and his loved ones of any danger...To never back down from ANYTHING...unless that anything is love. WAIT, huh??

You see, in our modern society, love is perceived as a gentle and/or soft emotion. And while it is an emotion that is more kind than cruel, somewhere down the line that kindness was mistaken for weakness. This is an ideology that has destroyed a huge part of our society, especially for urban cultures. Follow me...

It's pretty much become taboo for us to show love to one another, whether it be friends, your significant other, and even your children. For a male to show love to his fellow male friend, he must justify his actions with the term 'no homo.' In fear, that one will perceive him as homosexual if a certain action is taken, or a certain something is said. When a man expresses his feelings of love to his female counterpart, what do we coin that man as? A SIMP! A father teaches his son toughness, and therefore, often omits certain elements of what i consider to be PROPER FATHERHOOD. Elements such as hugging and/or kissing his son, telling him that he loves him, and sitting down with the son to talk and have father-son bonding time. All of these things are left out in the father-son relationship due to the father's fear of raising a soft child. I've only hugged my father once in my whole life, which was a few years ago, and i remember how awkward the moment was. It was very uncomfortable. He never once in his life told me that he loved me, nor did he ever take the time to sit down and talk to me.

If you've never realized it, lack of love causes insecurity. Think about it...in the black community, the sad reality of things is that, our biggest role models in life are the stars we see on television. Some of us know more about the lives of stars than we do about the lives of our own FATHERS. The fact that we suffer from the lack of love insecurity, we happen to fill that void in our lives with our next biggest cultural influences, which are the people we see on television. That's a sad ass reality. If you've noticed, alot of us young black men are the same exact person. We are so afraid to be ourselves, that we adopt a personality from an idol...Lil Wayne perhaps? Imma type this next part in all caps to make sure you hear me...ECSTACY PILLS ARE A MIXTURE OF DRUGS SUCH AS HEROIN, COCAINE, AND OTHER HARMFUL AGENTS! TEN OR FIFTEEN YEARS AGO, THE AVERAGE YOUNG ADULT WOULD NEVER DARE TO HARM THEMSELVES OF THESE CHEMICALS! NOWADAYS, HOWEVER, HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU KNOW WHO'VE TAKEN ECSTACY? AND WHY??? BECAUSE ITS COOL! WHY IS IT COOL? BECAUSE LIL WAYNE PUT IT IN A SONG! ARE WE THAT WEAK? WE CAN TAKE DRUGS THAT ARE KNOWN TO PUT HOLES IN OUR BRAINS BECAUSE OF SOME RAPPER WHO TOLD US TO?! That's scary. Problems like these in society are an OBVIOUS result of insecurity. Insecurity caused by a lack of love...a lack of love from a REAL role model...a father. Those that have great fathers in their lives don't feel the need to adopt a personality from the tube, because it was given to them at home, formed by love in the household. This same guy can enjoy the entertainment he sees on television and other media outlets without it taking over his soul. Men not wanting to settle down with one woman is also signs of insecurity. We simply FEAR monogamy. That fear has been once again covered up with the "cool" disguise. It's COOL for a young man to have slept with many many women. He's coined as a player, pimp, or whatever. That is the very insecure man. He's missing love somewhere in his life, be it from a mother, father, or both, so he feels the need to FEEL NEEDED by many women to supplement that missing space in his life. Conquering women is his cry for love....and the bad thing about that is, that guy doesn't even realize that that is his problem.

The daughters of society suffer from this same lack of care and love. These are the 'hoes' and 'sluts' that are among us, in most cases at least. Had they had the love of a man, their fathers, then they wouldn't feel the need to sleep around with a plethora of men to try to receive that same feeling. They would already know that they're loved because it's been told to them since birth. However, women have these issues far less than men, because it is easier for the father to openly express love to his daughter rather than his son because his son is a fellow male.

Everyone is sitting around wondering why conditions are worsening as time progresses...its so obvious if you're willing to reach the core of the issue. Think about this....Thirty, forty years ago, our "celebrities" celebrated love and unity. We had musicians like Marvin Gaye, Al Greene, and Earth Wind and Fire, who's music were based on LOVE. We had television shows like 'The Good Times' that showed a black family together and loved each other. We lived by those ideals back then. Love and unity. As time progressed, our media outlets became more secular and worldly, and the "cool" personality took over, which refuted those pure ideals that we once lived by. To be "cool" all of a sudden became the most important thing to us. And to not be "cool" made you a social leper, which is considered to be the worst thing in modern society. So here we are in 2010. An urban culture guided by the drug, fame, and sex-addicted celebrity. For conditions to turn around for us, all we need to do is restore that four letter word that we so often run from...LOVE. But the sad part about it all is that it may be too late.

" Some say that hate is such a strong word...but is it really? The weakest of people can easily claim hate, but it takes true strength to say, 'I Love You'" -Me

To conclude, we have a very backward mindset, which is why instead of progressing and uplifting as a culture and society, it seems like we are headed toward destruction. We need to love ourselves, each other, and our children. Love solves all...believe me.

Where The Wild Things Are

I really just sometimes sit and think...us humans have been cursed with an egotistic complex. We seem to think we are the dominant species on planet Earth, but are we really? Ok, put it like this...if we were amongst nature, and we had to fight an animal with our bare hands as they fight each other all the time for survival, would we survive? Put a human in a room with a dog where they have to kill each other, who do you think would be dead? It wouldn't be the dog. Or a human vs. a Gorilla...hell, even a monkey! There's no way we would survive. We are THE ONLY species on Earth to RELY on the usage of technology for survival. Say there was some type of huge catastrophe and all of our homes were destroyed and we had to live amongst the wild....we wouldn't last long because 1. We wouldn't have the knowledge or skill to hunt for food 2. We're so used to a domestic lifestyle that our bodies aren't immune to nature's conditions and 3. We're not smart enough to figure out ways to survive with little food over long periods of time. Society has truly weakened us, physically and mentally and we don't even realize it. Back thousands of years ago, a human was able to throw a spear from yards and yards away, killing a water buffalo with a single attempt and use it for food and warmth. That's mental and physical precision. And this whole time, we sit here and think we are life's dominant and most intelligent beings. We'd never be able to survive Where The Wild Things Are...

What The Fuck Is A Celebrity?

Every now and again, somebody'll ask me somethin like 'Did you hear about so-and-so gettin engaged?' talkin about some celebrity. I'm always quick to say 'I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK.' We live in a society today where the average person is so consumed in the personal lives of celebrities. What they're wearing, who they're dating, they're diet...how ridiculous?! Just really think about it. We're SO concerned about every aspect of their lives, but have you ever stopped to think about how we mean absolutely nothing to them? NOTHING. And if you were to ever try to get anywhere NEAR a celebrity, they'd probably call their security on you. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love and respect their crafts and what they do, but that's where it stops. I have not a care in the world about them personally. We sit up here and watch people like Wendy Williams bash these people for the things that they do, but who are we to even have an opinion? You ever have a few people get in your business as far as your personal life? You think to yourself 'WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!' Now imagine having a million people invading your personal life. Could you imagine?

I look at it like this...the love and concern we have for these stars' lives is equivalent to a girl's obsession to a guy who doesn't give a damn about her and treats her like shit. You think amongst yourself 'Why does she continue to care about him when he don't even give a fuck about her?' IT'S THE SAME THING. Know what and who to care for in life, that's all i'm sayin.

NOTE: I was on Twitter and noticed that @RevRunWisdom only has a following of about 600,000. Kim Kardashian has a following of nearly 3 million. Just goes to show what we prioritize. Damn..

Me 'Of Mice and Men'

This is a song i didn't wanna post because its OLD. But a friend told me i should so here it is. It's actually a true tale of somethin i was goin thru some time last year and to this day, it's hard for me to listen to this song. It's about when i was strugglin to fight off my addiction to weed. I felt as if there was a voice inside of me tellin me that i should when my conscious self knew that i shouldn't. I remember recording this song late at nite in a room all by myself, and i had to stop because hearing myself taking on the role of the demonic voice scared the shit outta me. I had to finish it the next morning...but here it is, 'Of Mice and Men'

REPOST: Dissection of the Word: 'Swag'

Alrite, seriously, this word gotta go...but not because the word is being over-used, but because it's being MIS-used. And to me, one of the worst things you can do in life is use a term out of context...well not really...but i do hate it lol. So come with me as i take the time to dissect the word and figure out exactly what the problem is...

Swag-ger; verb; definition- to walk or strut with a defiant or insolent air.

Ok, lets start off with the misconception...between 2006 and now, the word "swagger" or perhaps more popular "swag" has emerged and has become the hip-hop culture's favorite word. I've heard people say things like "Have you seen the way so-and-so dresses? They got swag!" This is a false statement. NOTICE above that swag is a VERB, which means its an action...its the WAY you carry yourself, not WHAT you carry yourself in. Swagger is 100% personality and 0% physicality, its innate and cannot be bought nor obtained. It's an aura, something not necessarily visible, but present none-the-less. The word i think people are MEANING to use is style. And even style is only about 50% physical, the other 50% is how you display it, which takes PERSONALITY (somethin many ppl lack). You can buy all the bright colored skinny jeans, wear shades indoors, and have as many tattoos as you'd like, but that won't give you swagger...it'll just make you look like a neon-colored fool.

To conclude, to have "swagger" (sarcasm) is a God-given talent, and there's NO way that all these people are talented like that. It's ok...i dont think that Kobe Bryant thinks he's a football player....(dry humor)...find your lane and stick to it. Be original and create your own PERSON-al style. I mean...you are your own PERSON arent you? No? Oh my fault...

Iono about them blue ones, but the green ones is mean..

Dear Black Women, Yall Are Probably Gon Get Mad Upon Reading This, But I'm Sayin This Because I Love You

In like...the past 2 weeks, like 3 different people have told me that i look like the type of guy that prefers Latinas over Black women. First off, imma tell you that that's not true, not in the least bit. When i ask people what is it that makes them think that, they can't tell me. I've actually only dated outside my race once, and she was Pakistani, not Mexican. But this issue is something that has been bothering me for a while, so imma touch on it. And since you can't answer why you think i look like the type of guy that prefers Latinas, imma answer it for you.

There is no certain look on my face that tells you that i prefer Latina women. Nor is there a sign on my forehead saying so. So what you mean i look like the type? This is where the problem lies. I'm an intelligent man that isn't afraid of it, and therefore i don't try to put up a front like i'm dumber than i really am to attract a certain kind of female. Shame on the people who do that. People see this and think 'Hmmm...that's odd. A handsome Black guy (no, i'm not cocky) that doesn't act White who's fairly intelligent and doesn't try to fit into the 'cool', he MUST not like Black women..'. Listen to yourselves...how stupid does that sound? But you know what? Young Black women, it's not that i'm not attracted to YOU, it's in fact the other way around. You're not attracted to ME.

You see...the typical YOUNG Black woman doesn't want the young black intelligent man. Oh no, definitely not. She wants the NIGGA. She wants that dude because a bunch of other women (or girls i should say) want him. She wants him because of his 'fuck it, fuck you, i dont give a fuck' attitude. She wants him because of the way his hat sits on his head or the way his skinny jeans fit just right on him. She wants him for everything that doesn't matter. I got my own acronym for the word NIGGA - Nothing Is Going Good Afterwards. Meaning, everything about him is appealing to your eye until after you get to know him and find out that he's about as intellectually deep as a 3 foot pond and he's worth nothing more than the clothes on his back. THAT'S a nigga for you. This doesn't only apply to young black women, our young black men are shallow as well. Only wanting a girl because she's 'Badd' or because 'she got ass'. We gotta do better.

I once dated a girl who couldn't believe i wasn't a NIGGA. I walked, talked, and 'acted' like a Black dude, but she refused to believe that i didn't carry on those NIGGA characteristics. I consider myself to be a nice guy, and i'm quite peaceful...but she steadily tried to create problems outta thin air. She would often push me to react a certain way because she was used to dealing with nothin but the NIGGA her whole life. She would provoke me to react, then ask 'Are you mad?'. When i would say no, it made HER mad. She even went as far as to ask me one day 'How come you never go hard on me?' I told her that I'm not that kinda guy. What really took her by surprise is when i let her look through my phone. I simply had nothing to hide. It was as if she was expecting something to go wrong...all because i'm a young Black man. That isn't fair. This is exactly why i say that many Black women WANT this type of guy. I've seen this happen too often. Some females are NIGGAS too, and the male and female NIGGA belong together. All of these problems, for men and women, can be solved if we begin to be attracted to a person for WHO he is rather than WHAT he is.

To conclude, when people say 'You look like the type that prefers Latinas over Black women', my reply to that is that i love ALL women. I love a woman who can make me happy and make me feel good, whatever the race. I see deeper than skin color. So don't you dare sit up here and tell me what kinda women i look like i prefer. Am i attracted to the young Black intelligent female? Yes, very much so. But am i attracted to the female NIGGA? No, not at all. Many females will TELL you that they want a good guy, but their actions speak otherwise. About a month ago, a friend told me that i didn't act Black, and that i acted White. She said it was because i don't act like a NIGGA and that i'm smart. Why is it that us Black people equate ignorance to being 'Black' or being real, and being smart and speaking intelligently is acting White? Do better. Because that's one of the dumbest things ive ever heard in my life.

I just made a Formspring account

i just made a Formspring account, ask me whatever...don't act stupid tho lol

Beats By Dr. Dre

Today is the 7th and my birthday is on the 28th. Which means i turn 21 exactly 3 weeks from now. If you want me to be your friend forever, you would get me these.

Have you ever went to BestBuy and sampled these? MY GAWD! I seriously have never heard anything like it. I mean, i have a decent pair of high quality headphones but they aint got SHIT on these! When you listen to music through these, it feels as though you're in another dimension. A world of music. Yall know how deep my love for music is. I don't give a damn HOW you get em for me, just get em. You got 3 weeks. Shit, team up if you have to. Put it like this...all you gotta do is get 10 people to donate 30 bucks each and BAM! Afforded. LMAO! I'm like halfway jokin rite now...but i really do want em. If i had em, i would feel as if a certain area of my life is complete. LOL.

Undecided..

Like 2 years ago, i was on Karmaloop and saw this dude with this tattoo on his arm. I've been tryna decide if i wanna get this or not...they always say 'If you're gonna get a tattoo, get one that means something'. Well, the Japanese sunrise is symbolic of power. Peaceful power. The fact that it's rising over the ocean projects signs of tranquility. I thought this tattoo fits me perfectly. But who knows...i don't wanna get a tattoo and then 5 or 10 years down the line, i look at it with regret. Plus EVERYBODY has a tattoo...back in the day, a tattoo would set you apart from others because you were looked at as 'unique' for having them. Nowadays, you're unique for NOT having one. Oh how the tables have turned...and i have not a single tattoo on my whole body. I may just keep it that way.

Please Leave Now

I realize that the things i say on here aren't for everybody. If you don't consider yourself a thinker, then please leave now. No love lost..
